In their first season of National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) competition Tony Stewart Racing was a Funny Car championship contending team heading into the final race of the year with No. 3 qualifier Matt Hagan aboard the Dodge Power Brokers Charger SRT Hellcat and ultimately finished third in the standings, while fellow HEMI-powered Funny Car driver Cruz Pedregon had a career best weekend and earned the Wally trophy at the NHRA Finals.
